Posting with Jetlag

Leo, diving right into summer
Hi, all:

I’m writing this post as we fly across the Atlantic in the middle of the night, after a whirlwind 6-week return to the U.S.  I've been back and forth a few times for work, but for the kids and Katherine, this was the first trip back to the States since we arrived in France, one year ago this month.

We are feeling refreshed and grateful for such a terrific visit.  We spent lots of time with good friends and family, and the kids were really delighted to reconnect with their native culture, language and community.  It was great.

We now have two weeks before school begins here in France.  Daphne will be attending ‘collège’ this year (the French term denoting Middle School).  Cora and Leo both will continue in the same school, but each now with a year under their belts.

We spent just over two weeks in Western Pennsylvania, where Katherine was raised.  In addition to spending quality time with my favorite Mother-in-Law, Peggy and her husband, Jack, we soaked up the sun during the daytime, and watched the Summer Olympics late into the evenings.

There really are too many moments and adventures from our time in the States to put into words on this post, so this is more of a photo-collage with captions.  These are mainly from the second half of our trip, in beautiful Western Pennsylvania.

Who needs to swim when you have a big sister to drive you around?

As you can see, I fear no vessel....

Do we have really have to return the boat, Dad?

The kids have mixed feelings about returning to France after such a blissful, relaxing summer in the U.S., but we are all eager to catch up with our Lyonnais friends again.
